Town Theatre is bringing the Disney musical, Beauty and the Beast, back for the first time in almost 10 years.
Shows will run Thursday July 19 through Sunday July 29.
Not only is the theater they bringing the iconic Belle and tormented Beast back to life on stage, it’s also giving back to the community.
Every summer Town Theatre teams with a nonprofit organization, and a portion of the proceeds goes towards that organization.
This year the theater is teaming up with My First Books SC, an organization that helps to build personal libraries for children going into school to support children’s literacy. This charity is fitting for the production, according to Town Theatre, considering the main character, Belle, loves to read.
The theater hosted a “Be Our Guest” event July 14 when children were invited to interact with the cast and crew. They could learn how to drink tea properly with the Mrs. Potts character, play cornhole with Cogsworth the clock and competed with the beast to see who could make the loudest roar.
Guests can buy an “enchanted rose” at any of the shows or bid on silent auction items where a portion of the proceeds will also go to My First Books SC.
The show debuted July 19 at 7:30 p.m. There will be performances through July 29. Tickets can be purchased at towntheatre.com, or you can contact the theater at 803.799.2510 or town@towntheatre.com.
