Others may be for the more adventurous, like mustard, or \u201cbarf,\u201d which Jackson actually says is her favorite.<\/p>\n<p>The sodas and candies line the shelves and coolers, while vintage tin signs and old concert posters\u2014also for sale\u2014cover the walls.<\/p>\n<p>Ivan Brunson came into the store for his second time ever on Monday, and said the atmosphere evokes a feeling of nostalgia for him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like the type of place my grandparents would take me to,\u201d he said. \u201cIt feels like I\u2019m back in the \u201890s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson says the store is unique in that it can be enjoyed by people of any age\u2014a child who has just tried orange cr\u00e8me soda for the first time, or an elderly resident who used to enjoy candy cigarettes.<\/p>\n<p>To try sodas from chocolate to pickle juice, residents can check out \u201cRocket Fizz\u201d seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p>The store is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;][et_pb_image admin_label=&#8221;Image 1&#8243; show_in_lightbox=&#8221;on&#8221; show_bottom_space=&#8221;off&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.15&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;||2px|&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;slide&#8221; box_shadow_style=&#8221;preset2&#8243; box_shadow_horizontal=&#8221;4px&#8221; box_shadow_vertical=&#8221;4px&#8221; url_new_window=&#8221;off&#8221; use_overlay=&#8221;off&#8221; always_center_on_mobile=&#8221;on&#8221; force_fullwidth=&#8221;off&#8221; src=&#8221;http:\/\/carolinanewsandreporter.cic.sc.edu\/test\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/rocketfizz2.jpg&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Caption 1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.15&#8243; text_font=&#8221;|600|||||||&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;12px&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1.4em&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;8px|||2px&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Soda flavors at \u201cRocket Fizz\u201d soda and candy shop in Columbia can range from classic to bizarre, including \u201cpeanut butter and jelly\u201d and the North Korea-inspired \u201cdoomsday lemonade.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Columbia now has South Carolina&#8217;s only &#8220;Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop&#8221; location in the popular downtown Vista district.
