{"id":12470,"date":"2018-10-03T15:46:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-03T19:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carolinanewsandreporter.cic.sc.edu\/test\/?p=12470"},"modified":"2018-10-03T15:51:19","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T19:51:19","slug":"scemd-transitions-from-emergency-operations-to-recovery-effort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carolinanewsandreporter.cic.sc.edu\/test\/scemd-transitions-from-emergency-operations-to-recovery-effort\/","title":{"rendered":"SCEMD transitions from emergency operations to recovery effort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section bb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.92&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;2px|0px|37.9062px|0px&#8221;][et_pb_row custom_padding=&#8221;0px|0px|18.9531px|0px&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;10px|||&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.92&#8243;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;2_3&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;News Story&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.15&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||0px|&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>For the past few weeks, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division has had over 300 people in its office working around the clock due to Hurricane Florence.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the operations center was nearly empty.<\/p>\n<p>SCEMD is currently scaling back its emergency operations, even downgrading its status from Op-con One to Op-con Three, which indicates that the situation is no longer as dire as it once was.<\/p>\n<p>However, Derrec Becker, SCEMD\u2019s public information director, said that the disaster is far from over.<\/p>\n<p>With nearly a hundred roads and a few major highways in South Carolina still closed, and multiple emergency shelters in operation, South Carolina isn\u2019t free of Hurricane Florence\u2019s wrath just yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe still have areas that are still underwater. This disaster is still occurring.
