She said he is at the top of her list of candidates in the 2020 presidential election, saying she was seeking &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a candidate who recognizes the current issues facing today\u2019s public education.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rose also hopes\u00a0O\u2019Rourke would be willing to surrender his personal social media after seeing how President Trump has handled his Twitter account.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Rourke lamented the Trump administration&#8217;s continuing separation of families at the border close to his home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThough we would like to lay this at the feet of one man, one administration, one political party, in a democracy where the people are the government and the government is the people.. .it\u2019s on every single one of us,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He emphasized that no matter what affiliations or opinions you might have, his campaign is about Americans joining together. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThat is democracy, a democracy right now that is broken, a democracy that needs to be fixed,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ashley Dale Henslee, a senior in journalism, was excited to see that O\u2019Rourke came to speak on a college campus and talked about big issues that matter, including immigration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of conflict and conflicting views, but in my mind you have to advocate and you have to be on the right side of history,\u201d said Henslee. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O&#8217;Rourke said that his campaign is meant to bring people together, no matter what their various affiliations might be. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m going to listen to, show up for, and serve everyone regardless of where you live, who you voted for last time, whether you vote at all, whether you can by law vote at all. You\u2019re in this country, you\u2019re important to me, and I\u2019m going to show up for you,\u201d said O\u2019Rourke. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>O&#8217;Rourke is among a number of Democratic presidential nominees touring the Palmetto State in advance of the presidential primaries next year.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;][et_pb_image admin_label=&#8221;Image 1&#8243;
