Model Rachel Trout is one of the six models wearing Entourage\u2019s spring collection for the USC Fashion Week finale show. The show will feature a total of 36 looks.<\/p>\n

College students are taking to the catwalk for a\u00a0cause and teaming up with local clothing retailers to do so.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fashion Week<\/a> at the University of South Carolina starts Friday with the second annual boutique crawl and concludes with a finale fashion show on March 29.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s a\u00a0way to give back to all the\u00a0retailers\u00a0that participate in our finale show for USC Fashion Week,” said\u00a0Katie Landmesser,\u00a0president of\u00a0Fashion\u00a0Board, the student organization in the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management that organizes fashion week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All\u00a0proceeds from the $5 entry fee for the March 29 fashion show go to the American Heart Association.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shopping the looks on Friday will allow attendees to prepare for the rest of the Fashion Week events and help small businesses in Columbia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe really need the brand awareness. There\u2019s a million boutiques around here and some of them are participating too, but we want to be relatable and have our name out there,” said Caitlyn Rudman, manager at Entourage<\/a> in the Vista. “We want to be a part of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis store\u2019s been here almost five years and we still have people that have never been here.\u00a0So,\u00a0it\u2019s good to bring people in who are thinking, \u2018Maybe I should go in there today\u2019 because of the crawl.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ryleigh Fleming,\u00a0new\u00a0owner\u00a0of Wildflower<\/a> boutique in Five Points, is excited to participate in USC Fashion Week to let the public see how the boutique styles are different since recently rebranding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very ‘Boho’ (bohemian) and I\u2019m still keeping some of those style items because that is kind of my style but it\u2019s mostly more trendy and urban styled clothing,” Fleming said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fleming picked out every piece that will be modeled by students in the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a two-piece, yellow, gingham set that I think is really cute and the blue, star-patterned dress is also nice,” Fleming said.\u00a0“I think that stars are really in right now.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rudman handled things differently at Entourage by allowing the students to pick and style the outfits for the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to limit people,” Rudman said.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve never seen these girls. So, if they thought something looked good on them, I said \u2018Go for it!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nursing major and model for the show\u00a0Rachel Trout\u00a0was happy to pick out her outfit for this show because it gave her more options.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I went to my assigned fitting time last year, and there was only one outfit left,”\u00a0Trout said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other stores participating in USC Fashion Week include\u00a0Vestique, Just the Thing, Bohemian, and menswear retailer Granger Owings<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
