Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott held a press conference on Tuesday to update the public on a shooting at a Halloween bonfire in Blythewood that injured multiple people.
Lott reported that an additional victim had been shot Friday night, increasing the number of injuries to three. All three gunshot victims survived.
Authorities say the shooting originated from a dispute around 10:45 p.m. when authorities were called to the scene, just 20 minutes after settling a noise ordinance at the same location on Wilson Boulevard in Blythewood.
“Virtually every deputy in Richland County responded to that call,” Lott said. “The rest of Richland County was pretty much uncovered.”
The sheriff’s department reported that over 500 attendees were present at the bonfire when the shooting occurred.
Lott reported that no arrests have been made yet, but that the sheriff’s office was hopeful for a breakthrough in the investigation.
