Columbia, S.C. – It’s been four days since Hurricane Helene made her devastating landfall in South Carolina.

The Rosewood area of Columbia is still feeling the effects with debris scattered everywhere, trees uprooted, and power lines down.

Rosewood resident Connor Eady has gone without power since the night the storm rolled through.

“Oh, it’s been terrible. Haven’t had AC, … no hot water. So, we’ve just been sleeping at friend’s houses nearby.”

Eady’s thermostat is resting at 78 degrees, making it impossible to keep his food fresh.

“We literally just went grocery shopping Thursday and then woke up Friday, went away for the weekend, got back Sunday and just had to clear everything out. So ,a couple hundred dollars wasted.

Dominion Energy says power will be restored to Rosewood residents by Thursday at the latest.

That still doesn’t clear things up for Rosewood locals like Chip Mauney.

“There is no power. No power and no answers as to when it’s really coming back on.”

Mauney’s neighbors are trying to help by sharing resources while they wait for more information.

“We’re kind of sharing gas tanks for, you know, whether it’s a chainsaw or a generator. We’re all kind of making runs on that. Whenever one person goes out, we just buy bulk for ice for the rest of the folks.”

Until Dominion Energy restores power, nearly 800 people in the Rosewood area are still in the dark.
