Many Midlands K-12 schools and colleges are closing Friday. And some are dismissing early Thursday.

Richland School District One schools and administrative buildings will be closed Friday. Students will be e-learning and district employees will work from home.

Also, four Richland One schools will dismiss early Thursday due to a combination of traffic from the USC football game tonight and preparations for potential flooding in the Olympia area. A.C. Moore and Rosewood elementary schools were dismissed at 11 a.m. The Olympia Learning Center will dismiss at noon. Hand Middle School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.

Staff from the district’s Central Services Facility and Central Kitchen will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Schools will distribute breakfast and lunch meals for Friday for students to take home.

Richland School District Two also will be closing schools on Friday for students and staff. All school buildings and district facilities will be closed, and after-school activities will be canceled.

All Lexington County schools are closed on Friday, and students will have an e-learning day. 

Lexington One said accommodations for power outages will be made, and all students will have extra time to complete e-learning assignments. 

Lexington-Richland School District Five schools will be closed Friday, but students will have an e-learning day. All after-school activities and events from Friday through Sunday are canceled or postponed. 

Heathwood Hall Episcopal School will be closed on Friday and is dismissing Thursday at 2:05 p.m. It held its homecoming football game Thursday at 4 p.m. against Laurence Manning Academy. All other after-school activities are canceled. 

Hammond and Ben Lippen schools had not made public closure announcements as of 3 p.m. Thursday. 

Benedict College will not have in-person classes on Friday but will switch classes to online. General campus operations are suspended, the dining hall, health center and police department will remain open. 

Allen University and Columbia College will hold all classes online on Friday

The University of South Carolina has closed its campus on Friday and cancelled all classes, in-person and virtual.

Midlands Technical College canceled all classes on Friday. 

Columbia International University canceled all classes on Friday, and all offices will be closed.
