Free admission and uncommonly warm temperatures brought 32,000 fans to USC’s annual Garnet and Black Spring Game on April 20.

The signature game was part of the “Big Gamecock Weekend,” which included a 5K Cocky Trot and a Junior Gamecock Movie Night on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium.

During this opportunity for fans to preview the fall roster in action, Gamecock players faced off against each other in a non-tackle friendly competition. The game included drills at half time and coaches who were free to call plays from the field.

The Garnet Team, led by quarterback LaNorris Sellers, came out strong from the first drive of the game to a 17-0 victory over the Black Team. Sellers, a redshirt freshman who won South Carolina’s Offensive Player of the Spring Award, completed 9 of his 11 passes for 70 yards in the first half. Sellers and Auburn transfer Robby Ashford are competing for the starting quarterback position.

The evening, which included opportunities for photos with Cocky and a marriage proposal broadcast on the video board, concluded with fireworks over the stands.
