South Carolina State University took to social media Wednesday to announce the death of senior Amya Carr.
Carr was a communications major and a member of S.C. State’s dance team, the Champagne Dancers.
“The SC State Campus Community offers Amya’s family our deepest condolences,” said the university in a Facebook post.
The social media post was flooded with comments offering condolences and support for the family and university. The Facebook post currently has 643 comments and 690 shares and the tweet has over 100 likes and 37 retweets.
The details of Carr’s death have not been released.

Carr’s death is the third reported student death this year at S.C. State. Student Shemyia Riliey and alumna Zeleria Simpson died in a car crash that left three others injured in February. The university held a prayer vigil for the fallen students and is currently planning services for Carr.
