The University of South Carolina has selected an artist to create a bronze statue honoring the first Black students admitted to the university since Reconstruction. The 12-foot statue will be placed near the Osborne Administration building next fall. Destiny Kennedy reports.

Destiny Kennedy is a broadcast journalist minoring in Film and media. Her love for storytelling began with her acting career when she starred as the victim in an episode of the true crime show "In Ice Cold Blood" on Oxygen. She believes storytelling, whether it be on the news or through film, reminds us we are not alone. As an African American and Latina woman in journalism, she has made it her mission to help tell the stories of those who are underrepresented and misrepresented. Before attending UofSC, she received her Associates in Paralegal Studies at Midlands Technical College. Her motto in life is the limit does not exist!
