A University of South Carolina student riding a scooter was hit by a truck at the corner of Greene and Main streets. 

The incident occurred around noon Monday near where roadwork is being done on south Main Street behind the S.C. Statehouse. 

The student is now in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to USC spokesperson Collyn Taylor. 

The USC and the Columbia police departments were both present at the scene. Columbia police are investigating the incident. 

The department’s dispatch could not give any updates by 5 p.m.
