Just a day after winning the SEC Championship, the South Carolina Women’s Soccer team is headed to the NCAA Tournament.  The Gamecocks are a three seed and will host Wake Forest on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Stone Stadium.

“At this point in the year, any time that you get to play another soccer game is a win for us,” said Cat Barry, a junior forward for the Gamecocks.

Barry, along with her teammates, gathered on Monday evening at Williams-Brice Stadium to watch the selection show. South Carolina is one of seven SEC teams to make the tournament this year, and after nearly advancing to the College Cup in 2021, they’re hungry for success this season.

“The drive they have, the determination… the leadership in this group. They’re prepared,” said head coach Shelley Smith.

“We’ve been so close,” said Barry. “I’m tired of being close, I’m tired of being one step back.”

If the Gamecocks win on Saturday, they will face the winner of Harvard vs New Hampshire.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth. They can be purchased in-person or online at gamecocksonline.com.
