After suffering two floods in three years, the town of Nichols is racing the clock to prevent another catastrophe. Leaders are working with the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments to develop a comprehensive plan for the town’s future.

For South Carolina’s large homeless population, finding shelter during a storm is difficult. Some shelters in Columbia and the Upstate open extra emergency shelters during extreme weather, and churches around Columbia also opened their doors to the homeless population during Hurricane Florence.

State Law Enforcement has cancelled an Amber Alert for an infant child in Hilton Head. Authorities in Beaufort County explained that Jairus Housey abducted his ten month old daughter at gunpoint last night. Housey is the non-custodial father to the victim and is now in custody.
Thursday’s vote in the South Carolina Senate passed the early voting bill that would allow South Carolina voters to vote in-person up to two weeks before the election for any reason. The bill unanimously passed in the house too.
